Financial Reporting and Benchmarking

Cometrics logo

NCG member co-ops submit weekly and quarterly data to CoMetrics. In partnership with CoMetrics, NCG provides powerful reporting tools to support your co-op in analyzing performance, understanding trends and benchmarking key indicators of overall co-op health to identify strengths and opportunities. Rather than serving as a scorecard, benchmarks intend to serve as points of inquiry, sparking meaningful insights and conversations. Your co-op’s strategic development manager is available as a trusted partner for insight, support, and a deeper dive.

CoMetrics Dashboard

Your co-op’s quarterly data is mapped to NCG’s Common Chart of Accounts and made available in the CoMetrics dashboard through dynamic trends, benchmarking, and CoScore reports. Training materials and additional resources are available via the resources link at the bottom of this page.

Co-op Performance Reports

In addition to your dynamic CoMetrics dashboard, NCG generates periodic snapshot reports for your co-op:

Quarterly Co-op Performance Reports

A two-page snapshot comparing recent five-quarter performance to peer benchmarks. Designed for management teams, including admin and department managers. Reports are emailed to your co-op’s designated representative following each CoMetrics submission deadline (Feb 14, May 15, Aug 14, Nov 14).

Annual Co-op Performance Reports

A multi-year review of performance compared to the co-op system, designed for boards of directors and management teams. Reports are emailed to designated representatives in the weeks following the Feb 14 submission deadline.

Weekly Sales Trend Reports

Timely insight into regional and national sales trends, published to the NCG website each month for designated representatives.

Submitting Data

Weekly data must be submitted within five days of the co-op’s end of week.

Quarterly data should be submitted within 30 days after the close of each quarter. Each co-op must upload a detailed trial balance that includes data for each co-op location.

For most co-ops, the quarterly due dates are as follows:

  • Quarter closing on or around March 31:
    • April 30 expectation
    • May 15 hard deadline
  • Quarter closing on or around June 30:
    • July 30 expectation
    • August 14 hard deadline
  • Quarter closing on or around September 30:
    • October 30 expectation
    • November 14 hard deadline
  • Quarter closing on or around December 31:
    • January 30 expectation
    • February 14 hard deadline

If your co-op’s quarter closing dates are nontraditional, 30 days post-quarter-close is the expectation and 45 days post-quarter-close is the hard deadline. We encourage you to submit your quarterly data as soon as you feel that it is reasonably accurate; in other words, unadjusted trial balances are absolutely acceptable to meet these submission dates, provided an adjusted or “final” trial balance file is submitted as soon as available. We deeply appreciate your efforts to meet the 30-day expected submission dates above to ensure timely and relevant benchmarking data for your co-op and your peer co-ops. Submission by the hard deadlines above is a requirement of the NCG Member Agreement.

Who Can Access CoMetrics

Access to the CoMetrics dashboard is determined by your co-op’s designated representative using the NCG User Add/Update form. Two access levels are available:

  • CoMetrics Users: full access
  • Weekly Sales Contacts: access limited to weekly sales submissions

Static reports emailed to designated representatives should be treated with the same level of discretion as your co-op’s internal financial statements.
